Remember Westboro Academy?
Late last year I did some work for the private school in Ottawa. Their website did not do their school justice!
Recently, though, they invested in a new website that showcases Westboro Academy in a much brighter light using much of the work I shot – there are also some photos we did not provide.
Their website comes across far better and should do well to attract attention.
Have a look at Westboro Academy’s new site to see more!

We were asked to do some work at Luskville Dragway, just northwest of Ottawa – to capture some of the fun at this traditional dragstrip. The day’s weather co-operated for the day – it was a test day at the track where people could test and tinker with their machines.
The assignment was editorial and they were looking for a single photo to show some of the action. Below are a couple of the out-takes – ie not the best shots – but a teaser of the types of cars the track caters to – from dragsters to motorcycles to street cars to suped-up roadsters.
Stay tuned – I will announce when you can see more of the work…

In the world of Ottawa/Gatineau portraiture there are many people who do excellent work. One has recently received a prestigious award.
Claude Brazeau has won the Professional Photographer’s of Ontario‘s Portrait Photographer of the year award for 2010. Claude specializes in weddings and has worked hard to be awarded this honour!
Congratulations Claude!
Portraiture is a very personal art form. There are many excellent photographers with many different styles. Compare Claude’s work to some other styles (our work – below) and at DavidTrattles.com and Jill Greenberg’s Manipulator.com

Weeks ago I mentioned a winter assignment I have been working on.
Quite fun really!
I was to cover five outdoor hockey rinks in the region, meet the people and capture the fun. And fun it was! I visited rinks all over the region including:
The feature, with article by Jamie Findlay, will appear in December’s issue of Ottawa Magazine.

I do some work for an elite XC ski team every year. XCOttawa.ca are a powerhouse and win medals. This year they wanted a selection of ski photos – in action – showing off their new team suits.

Recently, we shot an executive portrait for a businessman in Ottawa. The client wanted headshots to support different aspects of his work – everything from an academic look to public speaking to business.
Over an afternoon with wardrobe changes and different venues we produced a collection of portraits that make him look good!
He was smiling last week when I delivered his portraits:

Recently we were approached by business partners who wanted some portraits done to support their work. They wanted both traditional corporate headshots as well as some photos showing them discussing work while away from their office.
They were fun to work with and were pleased with the collection of work they will be using.

I just handed in an assignment for Westboro Academy in Ottawa. The school is in need of some promotional photography. Most of the existing photos on their site were donated by volunteers. They wanted better and up to date photos suitable to attract students!
I had worked, photographically, with the school’s Headmaster for years while she taught at a private school near Montebello, Quebec.
Westboro needed many photos, quickly and on budget. I proposed a plan of action and spent a day shooting to meet their goals. They loved the results. They will be rebuilding their web site in the months ahead.
Below is an excerpt – in the interests of privacy we are limited as to what can be posted!
