What workshops do you offer?

We offer a variety of workshops to suit a range of photo interests. Check out our workshops page to find out more.

How do I register for a workshop?

You can sign up for most workshops on the individual workshop web pages. Contact us to register directly or to get more information. Registrations are on a first come, first served basis – we need a deposit to reserve your spot. Most live courses are limited to 8 students per class but seminar type courses allow for more participants. Once a course fills up you may be put on a waiting list.

What’s the difference between a safari, workshop and membership?

A safari is a short, live photo adventure with the emphasis on fun and photo challenges with tips along the way. A workshop is longer and intended to teach specific photo skills. The membership is an ongoing, online membership to bring challenges and photo fun to people who can’t make our live events.

Where are the workshops held?

Most workshops are held in the Ottawa/Gatineau area unless otherwise stated. Classroom portions are usually held at Ottawa Studio Works. Contact us for details about hosting workshops in your city!

Are the courses digital or film based?

Either… or both! Our workshops are photography courses – about creating better photographs. The emphasis is on your skills behind the camera and your ability to effectively use the camera you have. We cover all aspects of digital photography – elements like ‘white balance’ affect film photographers, too! Participants bring digtal or film cameras. Do not worry about your equipment – all you need is a 35mm SLR camera and lens(es). “Point and shoot” cameras are permitted on only a few courses. Unsure? Please ask.

How much do the workshops cost?

Prices vary by course. Check out our workshops page to find out more.

What is your cancellation policy?

On most courses should you need to cancel your course registration more than 30 days before the course begins any fees paid for the course will be refunded (less an administration fee). If cancellation occurs 30 days or less prior to the course start date, no refund is available.

What is your privacy policy?

We do not share our customer’s information!

How big are your classes?

Most workshops are limited to 8 students per class. “Seminar based workshops” or “Photo Safaris” may have larger numbers of participants. Larger or smaller groups can be accommodated through our custom courses. Contact us for more details.

What if it rains/snows/hails/sleets or otherwise looks nasty outside?

We build poor weather contingencies into our programs. In the event of truly inappropriate weather or other unforeseen elements, the field trip may be relocated or rescheduled.
