As students enter the classroom a simple drum-beat greets the students. And then there is silence.\u00a0And repeat. Student intrigue kicks in. Students gather quickly. Someone risks clapping the beat in response. I smile. The drum beat repeats and more students join the beat in response.<\/p>\n<p>The drum sets the direction. Everyone quickly engages.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a lovely tool to help with transitions and attention.<\/p>\n<p>As familiarity develops, I choose a student that follows expectations to take over the drumming transitions.<\/p>\n<p>I have met few students that have <em>not<\/em> been excited about the opportunlity of drumming.
