The blog would intermittently disappear a couple of times a day and we would do our best to restore the files to keep you reading.<\/p>\n<p>Our blog was hit, we believe, by a mischievious meddler with too much\u00a0time on their hands. Meddler had written a program that targets a whole\u00a0bunch of sites including ours. The program knows how to regenerate\u00a0itself. This was not something personal and they didn&#8217;t get involved\u00a0every time the blog disappeared.<\/p>\n<p>The blog has been stable for five days now. We hope we&#8217;ve licked this\u00a0problem. How did we outsmart the meddling smarty pants?\u00a0We upgraded to a newer version of the WordPress software, changed our\u00a0passwords and upgraded our security settings. It&#8217;s complicated.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve also been told by three faithful readers that our website has\u00a0recently caused an alert on their browser. Is this related to the dogged\u00a0blog? We&#8217;re investigating. It seems the meddler&#8217;s infiltration plopped a few lines of text that promote a nasty site posing as a dive resort, etc that caused the alerts. We&#8217;re cleaning this up.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re a small business without a significant IT department and a\u00a0<a title=\"underachieving web services\" href=\"http:\/\/www.synergywebservices.ca\/\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.synergywebservices.ca%2F','underachieving+web+services')\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not-very-helpful host<\/a> &#8211; our enquiries to them so far have generated lack lustre support. But we&#8217;re very lucky to be connected to a smarter\u00a0Smarty Pants with good web and research skills capable of handling the\u00a0meddling smarty pants.<\/p>\n<p>Our Smarty Pants will be supporting our\u00a0<a title=\"Creative Business Seminar\" href=\"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/workshops\/workshops_business_art.htm\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.harrynowell.com%2Fworkshops%2Fworkshops_business_art.htm','Creative+Business+Seminar')\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Creative Business Seminar<\/a>&#8216;s web session on Sunday, November 8th.
