My brother-in-law and I paddled part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rideau_Canal\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRideau_Canal','Rideau+Canal')\" title=\"Rideau Canal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rideau Canal Waterway<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/1221\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwhc.unesco.org%2Fen%2Flist%2F1221','World+Heritage+site')\" title=\"World Heritage site\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Heritage site<\/a> that links Ottawa to Kingston.<\/p>\n<p>It was pretty fantastic and very different than most of the canoe trips I have done.\u00a0 We prepared to be self sufficient &#8211; packing a tent, sleeping bag, food, stove, TP, lanterns.<\/p>\n<p>We guessed that there would be services en route and, ahem, we ate well at restaurants, camped on manicured lawns at locks and used services unknown to most wilderness paddlers.<\/p>\n<p>It was a nice combination of semi-wild paddling and urban luxuries.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong><em>What does this have to do with photography, Harry?<\/em><\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I am glad you asked. I packed some fine camera equipment for the trip &#8211; a little, digital point and shoot camera. This was play and not work. Each holiday snap took seconds to capture &#8211; ie it was not work!<\/p>\n<p><em>The point of this post<\/em> is that little cameras can do wonders if you know photo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/workshops\/workshops_creative.htm\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.harrynowell.com%2Fworkshops%2Fworkshops_creative.htm','Creative+Fundamentals+Photo+Wokshop')\" title=\"Creative Fundamentals Photo Wokshop\">fundamentals<\/a>. I used it in auto mode. Pointed. Composed. Click.<\/p>\n<p>What camera? I won&#8217;t tell you. It doesn&#8217;t really matter, anyway. How you use your camera matters much more than what camera you have.<\/p>\n<p>Take lots of photos. Learn.
