Paul Symes does a fantastic job of bringing in rising talent. Some fun developed:<\/p>\n<p>Friday night we went to watch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.polarismusicprize.ca\/nominees\/\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.polarismusicprize.ca%2Fnominees%2F','Polaris+Prize')\" title=\"Polaris Prize\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polaris Prize nominee<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basiabulat.com\/\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.basiabulat.com%2F','Basia+Bulat')\" title=\"Basia Bulat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Basia Bulat<\/a>.<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/Photo\/blog\/Basia-2.jpg\" alt=\"Basia Bulat\" height=\"201\" width=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was a patron that night, not a working photographer. The venue is small and beautifully lit but does not have the bright lights of large venue. I checked with Paul and Basia and shot for ten minutes with some very simple equipment &#8211; camera body and an 85mm f1.8 lens. I shot with available light in a photojournalistic style.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/Photo\/blog\/Basia-3.jpg\" alt=\"Basia Bulat\" height=\"201\" width=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are shooting in such a venue please beware how your camera works! In low light many point and shoot cameras will emit a red &#8216;laser&#8217; to assist the camera&#8217;s focus. Twice Basia was interrupted by the red laser &#8211; not me &#8211; Paul was not very happy!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/Photo\/blog\/Basia-4.jpg\" alt=\"Basia Bulat\" height=\"300\" width=\"201\" \/><br \/>\n&#8216;Twas a fantastic show &#8211; and great to watch from the fun that is the Black Sheep Inn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet On the weekend I visited the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield Quebec.
