{"id":151,"date":"2008-09-30T08:50:35","date_gmt":"2008-09-30T13:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/30\/136-handed-in\/"},"modified":"2022-05-29T08:21:10","modified_gmt":"2022-05-29T13:21:10","slug":"136-handed-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/30\/136-handed-in\/","title":{"rendered":"#136 Handed in"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-count=\"vertical\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.harrynowell.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/30\/136-handed-in\/\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Yesterday, I presented two projects to clients:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottawamagazine.com\" onclick=\"return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ottawamagazine.com','Ottawa+Magazine')\" title=\"Ottawa Magazine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ottawa Magazine<\/a> assignment on the Whitewater Slalom National Team Training site in downtown Ottawa &#8211; the &#8220;Pumphouse&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>A wedding assignment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Ottawa Magazine &#8211;<\/strong> Jane was <em>pleased with the work<\/em> &#8211; &#8220;I always get <strong>good results<\/strong> when the photographer is passionate about the subject.&#8221; I enjoyed shooting it, too!It&#8217;s due out next spring\/summer.<\/p>\n<p>We talked about a photo project for next summer that looks promising. Jane is also on the <em><strong>Working Creatives<\/strong><\/em> list &#8211; a networking group for people working in creative fields.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chelseagallery.ca\/HarryNowell\/Slice_of_Life_Photos\/images\/HNWeddingFunL.jpg\" alt=\"candid fun\" height=\"268\" width=\"400\" \/><em><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 F<\/strong><strong>ly on the wall photography<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wedding assignment &#8211;<\/strong> The newly married couple were all smiles of, course! They had a very small wedding and wanted someone to document the fun. I really don&#8217;t enjoy the formal, posed wedding style &#8211; it&#8217;s cold, rigid and staged. Blechh.<\/p>\n<p>The photo above is far more my style &#8211; taken years ago from atop a chair &#8211; posted with permission. The bride&#8217;s smile is honest and true!<\/p>\n<p>I am hired to be a <strong>fly on the wall<\/strong>. Consequently, my photographic instructions for the bride and groom are simply &#8220;forget about me.&#8221; And the candid, wonderful emotions start leaking out. The recent couple really wanted me to capture the stories, the gestures and the nuances. That&#8217;s <strong>my kind of wedding photography<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>I was hired once because, as the bride put it, &#8220;your portfolio was the only one that had me <strong>on the verge of tears<\/strong>.&#8221; A big formal wedding is hard work!
